Song of Repentance
Holy Father, Lord of life,
My every breath bespeaks Thy Name.
Please grant me wish and space, I pray,
For these redeeming words today.
Forgive me, Father. I have sinned.
My spirit turned away from Thee. 1
Hidden in the black of night
I lost my path, Thy guiding Light. 2
I would not hear Thy voice. What cost!
Precious time forever lost.
In misery I cry for Thee.
"Forgive me, Father, I am small,
Of little worth, for I transgressed.
No longer is my soul at rest.
When I fight against Thy will
Thy greatest bounty's never found. 3
I do repent. Thy words abide
'Til sin no longer feasts inside.
Father, forgive and bless me as
I bring my deeds into Thy light.4
May I regain Thy presence dear
Receiving of Thy love and might,
Beholding Thy magnificence.5
